History

At Greenside, our history curriculum is rooted in enquiry, rich in knowledge, and designed to spark curiosity about the past. We use the CUSP curriculum as a framework to support and guide our teaching, ensuring that learning is well-sequenced and builds over time. However, we go beyond any one scheme, drawing on wider curriculum thinking developed across our Trust to craft a bespoke approach that is responsive to our pupils and community.

Through carefully chosen units, we aim to help children develop a strong sense of chronology, understand cause and consequence, and make connections across periods and cultures. We are committed to ensuring that our curriculum reflects a broad range of voices, perspectives and experiences. Our approach to history is explicitly anti-racist and actively works to decolonise the curriculum, allowing all children to see themselves in the stories we tell and to critically engage with the past in a meaningful way.
